I wonder why I feel worried for each and every exam.
It's not those really simple kind of panic, it's a irritating, back-of-your-mind kind of worry, you know?

Prelim 2 has been really kind.
All the papers except Chem is easier to me.
Chem is so whatever, I really don't care for a subject that's just about memorising.
I'm sorry, I'm not going to care about macromolecules when I get out of school.
Knowing it would be an insult to my coolness. (Haha!)
K, that's just an excuse. We all know it.

I am so sick of school/exams.
I don't even feel like studying anymore.
It's like, I keep studying and studying when I already know it all.
Yet the school manages to come up with ridiculous questions and make us think we're really stupid/unprepared.

Well, maybe we are.
But if O levels is going to be as hard as our school papers..
Then screw it.
But practically every seniors says it's easy, like super duper easy and do-able.
It makes me wonder, since it's so easy, why is the school setting such tough papers?

Training students for exams is one thing, discouraging them is another.
When you have worked hard, but get back extremely unsatisfactory results time and again, it's just really tiring and hello?
Perseverance is key but does the school realise that we already are trying our best?

Oh, but we get scolded for reading our notes before morning assembly.
I wasn't one of those people but, seriously?
We're working so hard for ourselves and the school and this is what we get.
That's just great, isn't it?
Sorry then. We just don't know what to do at the right time.
Maybe we should all go for a holiday during our study break, because we don't know how to behave appropriately.

Adults these days should spend a week in school.
It is so mentally draining. It's so structured. You're constantly on totter heels.
'Will the paper be difficult?'
'Here she comes.'
'I feel so unprepared.'

You say working is even more tiring but I beg to differ.
I think many of us have worked before, and I can tell you, studying is WORSE.
Just try it. You think school is like how it was 20, 30 years ago?
Take a look around Singapore.
Do you realise how fast we are moving?
Education is constantly morphing to keep up with times.
Sadly, it has morphed into something that defeats the purpose of education.

Maybe I should just shut up.
I should just be a study freak.
And go to Rjc and get A1s for all my subjects 'because my parents want me to.'
And go to Oxford but not know why I wanna go there. Maybe because the name is cool.
AND, THIS IS A REAL EXAMPLE OK.
When I heard that I went, 'Oh. Okay.'

GET REAL.
And she even said 'My parents are already saving up for my education.'
'When I make millions of dollars I'll give a million each to my parents.'
I laughed.
They came from the same girl, btw.
We'll see how someone like you make millions.

AND the best thing is, she totally meant it!

Like as if making millions is really easy.
In case you don't know, 1 million = 1000000.
That's quite a big number.

I.. don't want to study hard to get into a good junior college to get into a good university to get a good job to get money.

I know it sounds pretty 'wth' of me to declare this, like as if I totally know what I wanna do with my life.
Well, I sort of know what I wanna do.

I don't want to get into RJC (for eg) because my father (for eg) wants me to and because it's the nearest good jc around.
Fyi, I so don't want to go into Rjc, and my parents already told me they're fine with any career path I wanna take, as long as I have the passion for it.

If I don't have the passion, the end.
The story is finished.
What's the point of doing so much when you don't even enjoy it?

I am pretty tired of keeping up with people to remain competitive.
Heck. I don't even have the same aims as those people.
All they want is to get into a good jc. Why?
Oh, they don't know actually. They just want to.
Fuck them. They are so clueless.

All I want is to get a good education.
Good enough to make meaningful, significant contributions to the society.
And by society I don't mean Singapore; I mean other societies that need help.

I know I have been saying I wanna get a farm but that's so selfish of me.
Farms generally produces methane and takes up space.
It doesn't really contribute anything except money.

Actually, I have never taken my eyes off my dream ambition since..God knows when.
I want to work in a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and help people who really need help.
People from Somalia, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia..
Educating them and helping them breakaway from the vicious poverty cycle.

Since young, I've heard of the 'poverty cycle' from my siblings because they read about it.
I was indifferent. Who cares about the poverty cycle? It doesn't affect me. What's that anyway.

But now that I know about it, and I can actually do something to aid them..
It won't be ME, if I turn a blind eye towards the situation.
Maybe other people can, but not me.

I don't read up about it because of Geography.
I learn Geography because of it.

I grew up in an environment with good health facilities, sanitation, infrastructure (pretty much EVERYTHING) and I strongly believe that other people from other parts of the world deserves that too.

Some people might argue that development causes environmental degradation (something I'm concerned about too).
But, hello? These people come from developed countries.
They wanna stop other countries from developing to refrain from worsening the environmental situation.
But is it fair? Is it fair to stop development, when your own country is developed?
Why ask them to stop cutting down trees, when all the trees in your own country is GONE?
You don't know how hard it is to live in a less developed country so shut up about the whole issue.
If you wanna make a difference, make it in your own damned developed country alright.

Why should they stop development plans FOR YOU to continue to cut down your own trees.

The whole world is full of contradictions.
It's hard to understand but honestly, I am trying.

To all the people who just want to grow up and be rich, good for you.

Alynna is the best lab partner EVER.
HAHAHAHA.

Lab practical after school today was HILARIOUS.
I don't think anyone succeeded in their experiment.
Both Alynna and I gave up after about 15 mins HAHA.
And then we started playing with all the acids and calcium carbonate and aluminium foil!
The nitric acid + calcium carbonate ROCKS!
We were hiding the beaker from chia but he spotted it and asked, 'WHAT'S THAT!!' HAHA SHEESH.
Well, that's our play thing.
He's so nice, never scold us, just look exasperated only HAHA.

Okay, I'm SUPER happy cause today is FRIDAY.

I had a nightmare yesterday, it was super funny/weird!
K so it was like, tomorrow I THOUGHT there was SS exam, so I studied for it, then after that I went to nap for a while.

I used to be so naive to think that these people were just PLAIN quiet, they were introverts, they didn't like to socialise.
Well, introverts or extroverts, it doesn't matter.
It's just whether you SAY your thoughts out loud or not.
Introverts keep their thoughts in their mind, extroverts don't.
It's not that the quiet ones are innocent, they just happen to take the super safe route: keeping quiet.

Look at them - they're so innocent, they don't even talk.
But if you enter their minds - wow - a lot is going through their head.
They don't speak because they want to stay neutral - they're afraid of making mistakes.
They don't want haters. But they make other people gain haters.

So before you judge a book by it's cover, it's best to think again.
Whenever I bitch with a group of people and someone's quiet, I make a mental note in my mind - this person is potentially dangerous.
Those who bitch are completely fine, their bark is worse than their bite.
They make loads of noise but actually, they're nice and funny people.
And the quiet ones are the most scheming ones.
The loud ones say that they hate person X, but actually they don't.
The quiet ones don't take any stand, but they are the ones who feel most strongly.

But of course.
There are people who are quiet AND nice.
There are people who are loud and serious about what they say too.

It scares me.
The fragility of life is horribly scary.
No, I'm not saying this because Michael Jackson is dead, though he is one part of the reason why I had this sudden realization that we should really treasure our lives.
Time and tide waits for no man.
We've survived 16 years. That's not a short time. 4 more years = 20 years = time an average tree matures (HAHA).
Ever heard of carpe diem?
Seize the day.

I'm currently at this age whereby..
Parents of some other people (of my age) have already passed away.
People die so easily.
We are so fragile, so easily broken.
But while alive.. We never seem to fulfill our dreams.
We never seem to be able to do what we really want to do.

People always think they can push away the things they want to do.
They say, 'Nevermind, next time. No time now/not free now'.
I do that, too.
But no one is sure what is going to happen tomorrow.
Who knows, are you even going to have a 'tomorrow'?
We can't take it for granted that we're going to live for a long time because medical care is so advanced/stuff like that.
Accidents do happen, and we can't prevent accidents from happening.

Can you imagine..
If you were to pass away now?

I have so many things that I haven't done.
All I have been busy with are things that I don't want to do.
I don't want to die without completing my to-do list.
None are ticked yet.
Yet all I am busy with now is studies/other stuff.

I don't want to die like that, I refuse to.
I don't want to die with regrets.
I don't want to leave this world, knowing that I could've lived my life to the fullest, but I didn't.
Because I thought I would have enough time.

That's why I don't talk to people I don't like.
That's why I usually don't do things I don't like. (Except studying. I don't like it, but I know it's for my own good.)
Life is too short to get angry over such stuff.
Getting angry is punishing yourself with another person's mistake.
Why would I ever want to do that?
Why would I grant that person my feelings?
The opposite of love is NOT hate, it's indifference.
I am indifferent to things/people I don't like, because they're simply not significant to me.
I really don't wish to waste my time.
It's just not worth it.

Everyone thinks they're destined for something big.
But.. What if you're really not?
What if I'm not?

What if, we are just going to live our lives like how the rest of the world does?
What if, we're destined for a 9 to 5 office job?
To find a partner, get married, have kids, watch them have kids, then wilt?

How many people actually manage to make a difference, to change something, to improve something?

I'm sorry - my aim is not to get good results, get a good job, get money, get a partner, get married, have kids, watch them have kids, and then die.
I don't want to live to die.
I don't want the time line of my life to be filled with emptiness.

I want to help people break free from the poverty cycle.
Help them provide their children hot meals everyday.
Stop them from worrying about their survival.
Prevent them from contracting diseases that can be easily prevented by vaccines available everywhere except their homeland.
Let them have access to clean water.
Give them shelter, give them safety, give them security, give them warmth.

But, what if I'm not able to do that?
What if I fail?
What if I can't even help myself?
What if all I am made for is to just make enough money to fulfill my needs?
What if I'm just going to become someone ordinary, someone you can pick out from anywhere on the streets.
What if I turn out to be a loser.
What if I don't make it.
What if I'm really just 'normal', following the rules of society, going against my true calling.

What if I don't even have the basic ability to choose my own path.
Everyone thinks they're destined for something big.

Mind over matter.

We all act so impulsively, then end up regretting over our actions.
(I'm guilty of that.)

At times, I speak before I think.
I don't really bother about the consequences until the consequences bother me.
[K, I just created a new quote ALL BY MYSELF AGAIN: If you don't bother about the consequences, the consequences will bother you. OMG COOL.]
But slowly, I've learnt to be more level headed. (I'm still not level-headed yet. I still harbour thoughts of murder.)

I still act impulsively, but..
Things are much better than it was.

What I'm saying is.
Before you want to attack something/someone/some action, think.
Why do you want it YOUR way? What's wrong with that? What might happen? What WILL happen? Will it be worth it?
And... Is that even needed?

Because most of the time, it isn't even necessary.
What I'm saying here is NOT necessary; but the consequences can only be GOOD, unless people turn around to morph my good intentions into bad ones.

This, is a piece of advice to everyone who needs it.
No need to ask who is it for - if it can apply to you, it means it's yours.

I'm using my netbook now and I MUST declare my love for it.
Dear netbook, I love you. You're about 500x faster than my laptop, and somehow, youtube videos load really quickly on you.
Why ahh?
Oh and I also love the veriface thing. It cracks me up.
Oh and I'm not having problems with the keyboard anymore (:
Told ya. All I need was practice.

Anyway the brand of my netbook is lenovo.
I wanted Eee PC Seashell [it's apparently really good] but the price is quite steep for a NETBOOK.
Looked at many many other brands and the specs and prices too.
LG was good, but no trade in.
Only Dell and Lenovo had.
I obviously won't take dell because of bad experience.
So yes, lenovo!
Intel Atom 1.66GHz, 2GB Ram.
Quite a steal if you ask me.
Oh and MSI Wind was quite a good deal too, being one of the best netbooks around, but I don't really like the way it looked. So yeah.

So anyway, after x-country last thursday, instead of going to Tamp1 which everyone else did, we went to Raffles City to have our 'Satisfying Cravings 3'! [The first 2 all jap food one HAH]
We went to Out Of The Pan.

Yeah so they sell crepes. It is not easy to make crepes cause I've tried before and instead of getting a crepe, I got a pancake. So yeah, n00bs like me can't make crepes D:

I find savoury crepes gross, somehow.
Maybe cause all the crepes that I've been eating are all sweet?

Anyway, I got myself the Tiramisu crepe, Alynna got the Rum& Raisin crepe.

Today was Prelim 1 English paper and it totally ROCKED.
It was marvellous, fantastic, wonderful, superb, blah blah blah.
I think I'm a freak.

I smiled at the question paper once I looked at the compo topics.
The 1 word essay.
'Pets'.
HOHOHO!!!!! Pets!!!!! Animals!!!!!!
The best thing that can ever happen is to tell me to write about ANYTHING regarding animals.
Because I will rock your ass off.
Anyway, I wrote about pets in general, my chicken(DEAD), my fighting fish(DEAD) and my star tortoise(ALIVE LAH!!!!), and their needs and etc etc I forgot.
Simply amazing.

Situational writing went pretty well too except for the format but formats don't matter it's the CONTENT dude!
Anyway it was something about a proposal to have bonding time for graduating classes and I was supposed to be the chairman of the monitress council.
I think everyone wrote AMAZING RACE.
SHIT LA. Cause I wrote that too!
I wrote amazing race + bakery tycoon.
SO COOL RIGHT THE NAME I KNOW HAHAHA I WAS LAUGHING TO MYSELF.
It's like each class gotta go around school + outside school, get clue cards, collate, then on the clue cards there are pictures of ingredients for the bakery competition so you get whatever you found and then you bake!!
A great balance of outdoor and indoor activities!
Oh and I spelt recce correctly yay.

Then it was compre which was fine it was easy to comprehend the comprehension so that makes it do-able.
Summary was a mad rush cause I spent too much time cracking my brain trying to rearrange everything and scanning through my brain like it was a thesaurus cause must use own words mah..
It was all OKAY in the end, so YAY!

I love English it never fails to disappoint me.

Is Singapore's education failing?
Failing so bad, till everyone has to resort to tuition?
Isn't tuition supposed to be for weak students?
Why is it that EVERYONE has tuition now?

It is like some sort of a compulsory, supplementary thing here.
SOME teachers treat students as though all of them have tuition and go at lightning speed.
Hello? What about me? What about the rest who don't have tuition?
Why is everyone having so much tuition and treating it like it's normal?
What's wrong with everyone?

And the teachers have no patience to teach the 'slower' ones - the ones who won't have tuition.
They yell and pick on them.
I don't get that treatment but I see people getting it - it is so damn ridiculous.
They are not 'slow', they just happen to not have tuition.
So, what, now you're gonna say, "Go get tuition then."
That's not the point, people.
The point is, EVERYONE is treating tuition like EVERYONE has it so EVERYONE is smarter and EVERYONE moves fucking fast but EVERYONE forgets that SOMEONE doesn't have tuition.
And then that someone get the blame for slowing the class down.
What's the logic in that?

I'm not blaming all the tuition-goers, it is not their fault.

Why is it that in Singapore, TUITION is overpowering the education in school?

This will be a really boring post.

I feel like blogging a really really long post but I have no idea what to write..

Anyway. Do students in other countries have to sweep the floors of their classrooms?

Because I actually find it kind of ridiculous. I mean, we're in school for education, and yet so much emphasis is about the cleaniness of the classrooms. Okay, I get it, I know that you need a good environment to study in but.. Hello? We're students, not cleaners here.

Is sweeping the floor our duty?

Is picking up tissue papers our job?

It's not as if we don't have cleaners in the school, and they get paid right, so why aren't they doing their job?

I don't have an issue about cleaning the classroom but rather, I'm questioning the point of it all.

We pay school fees to come to school, and we are expected to sweep the classroom floor when there are cleaners getting paid for that.

I remember coming back to school for campfire skit prep during december hols and saw a dead cockroach on the floor and about 1.5 months later when I went back, the cockroach was still there!

It was during the school holidays - obvious that there won't be students to 'do their duty' right?

Then why didn't the cleaners do it?

The school makes us clear our tables to clean then classrooms but, come on..

Nothing was done?

It was in sec 1 by the way.

Amazing that I even remember it.

But well, I remember EVERYTHING.

Today's entry shall be about people without a mind of their own, who doesn't have a backbone and always afraid of making their opinions known in order not to offend people.

Well, there's a reason why you were born with a brain, so use it.

I don't like to conform to conformity, I don't like following rules for the sake of 'keeping order' especially if they don't make sense.

And I actually have respect for people who are opinionated.

Being opinionated is not necessarily a bad thing- it's better than following people like a total dog.

But, there is a difference between being opinionated and plain loud, of course.

I don't like to be swayed by other people.

If something's wrong, but is accepted by others, does it mean that you also have to accept it, just because everyone else is doing so?

If something needs to be changed, but people prefer to keep things the same way, does it mean that you have to agree with them?

What's wrong to you may not be wrong to others, but the least you can do is to at least make yourself believe in your own words.

Perhaps you'll be labelled as stubborn, but it beats crawling around other people and sniffing their butts.

Same goes for mistakes.

If someone makes a mistake and after a long while everyone still refuses to forgive and forget, does it mean that you have to do the same?

Or if they forgive and forget, must you do so too, even if you think what that person did was really wrong?

We all have a mind of our own, yet we seem to be constantly swayed by other people.

Why?

All I'm saying is this - don't follow the crowd just to gain acceptance.

You don't have to forgive and forget if you don't want to.

You can bear grudges if you want to; what's wrong with bearing grudges? I don't get it.

You don't have to do what the rest are doing.

You don't have to feel guilty, even if everyone is pointing fingers at you, if you know what you did was the right thing.

The world would be a much better place if everyone can just let their guard down, speak their mind, be frank, and stop worrying if what they're doing is 'right' or 'wrong'.

Come one, you decide what's right and what's wrong for yourself.

It is, after all, your life.

Why care about the rules other people set?

Like, who in the world are they to control what you think?

Why allow your thinking to be drowned by others?

I am officially SICK AND TIRED of people who can't think for themselves.

I've had enough of people following the crowd even though they tell me they don't think it's right.

It is so tiring to hang out with people who are constantly worried about offending others that I end up worring if I am lording over them.

I'd rather have someone disagree with me than have that person pretend like whatever I'm saying makes perfect sense.

I'd rather get into a fight. It's better than you acting like 'oh wow great minds think alike' when inside you're thinking of the total opposite.

I don't know if you can read that or not 'cause it's not properly focused.

Our view from 'The Pasta Shop', T3. (We studied at the cafe at the left hand corner haha.)

This is what Alynna had there, some tomato based seafood pasta.

This is what I had, seafood basil cream sauce pasta.

Here's a close up!
Anyway, the pasta was pretty satisfying but the price was soooooooo not worth it.
Our pastas cost $16.90 each, and with service charge + GST, we ended up paying $19.90.
It didn't taste like it was worth $19.90.
It was Jap pasta btw. Oh and the service kinda SUCKED?

This is a really small snail compared to the ones we usually see near our school/in our school!

For comparison purposes.
That's not my finger btw, HAHA.

In a conflict between 2 parties, it should only be between 2 parties.
Yes, it's fine to complain to other people (the 3rd party).
I have completely no problem about that.

The problems lies with the 3rd party.
You should learn NOT to make judgements.
Because you're only hearing from one side of the story, aren't you?
Who are you to comment? Who are you to make judgements?
You DO realise that what you're doing is really unfair to the other side, don't you?
You're making accusations based on only your friend. What about the other?
You've only listened to one friend, and there you are, going all, 'gosh it's like I can't even recognise that person anymore'.

Wake up, dudette.
People tend to fabricate stories to make themselves look better.
Maybe not fabricate; perhaps it's just their thinking that they're not in the wrong.
I'm fine with that, we like to stand by our beliefs and hold true to them.
It's our nature; we tend to think we're right most of the time.

But as the 3rd party you should really pour a bucket of ice cold water over your head.
Don't make judgements if you're not in a position to do so.
Don't spread stories, don't give comments, unless you're involved.
Because if you're not; who are you?
Get your own story to talk about; get some originality, please.

You speak as if you know everything, as if you know 100% of the story, as if you have the right to judge who's right and who's wrong.
Well let me tell you this.
In life there's neither black nor white.
There's only grey.
You can't go around telling people, 'hey this person did this, he/she is a bad person. the other person is right let's support him/her.'

Morever, YOU, as a third party, shouldn't give your views about the conflict at all.
You're not involved right?
So who are you?
You are just a bystander.
So STAND BY and KEEP YOUR COMMENTS TO YOURSELF.

It's hard to sit on a fence but too bad.
You have to learn NOT to take sides.
The fence might prick your ass but too bad.
You chose to listen to the story and it's your responsibility to make sure that the story remains in the NON-FICTION category.

I've heard about what happened too but did I make judgements?
No.
Did I go on my blog to write about what I think about it?
No.
Did I say things like who's right and who's wrong?
No.

I just shut up.
Because I know how it feels like to be maligned, to be treated with unfairness.
No one likes to be treated as an outcast.
What's more, being treated like that because of some FICTIONAL story spread by people who are not even involved.

To me, only the people involved has a right to speak.
We as listeners should ONLY listen.
Let the storytellers tell the story because they wrote it.
We should only listen without making judgements.

If you're smart, you should know what I'm talking about.
If not, then please don't ask me.

I was very reluctant to write this post because, as mentioned above, I am in no position to actually make any comments about this issue, for I am completely not involved. But what I am writing about here is not about what happened, but rather what we, as 3rd parties, should not do.

So my stand is this:
You heard the story.
You're not involved.
Keep your comments to yourself.
Let the storytellers speak for themselves.
Don't make judgements.
Just listen and shut up.
